Special Sauce Cheeseburgers on Kneaders Justin's Sesame Buns

Is it really summer without backyard BBQ’s with friends, family and neighbors? We don’t think so! Some of our most cherished summer memories are accompanied with the smell of burgers and hot dogs being grilled to perfection.

Chef Ryker’s recipe for the month of August, Special Sauce Cheeseburgers on Kneaders Justin’s Sesame Buns, is inspired by All-American flavors including juicy ground beef patties, sweet pickles, American cheese and more. Impress your loved ones at the next get-together with these deluxe burgers paired with our seasonal made-from-scratch Justin’s Sesame Buns for a truly perfect summer meal.

Ingredients

  • 6 Kneaders Justin’s Sesame Buns
  • 1 1/2 lbs. Ground Beef, 80% lean 20% fat
  • 1 Cup Ketchup
  • 1/2 Cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 Cup Sweet Pickles, diced
  • 1/4 Cup Red Onions, diced
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1/4 tsp. Pepper
  • 12 Slices American Cheese
  • 6 Tbsp. Unsalted Butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 Cups Yellow Onions, diced
  • 12 Sliced Sandwich Pickles

Directions

Preheat griddle to 400 degrees or medium-high heat. Portion ground beef into twelve 2 oz. balls and set aside. 

For the Special Sauce, mix ketchup, mayonnaise, diced pickles, red onions, salt and pepper. Set aside.

Place each ground beef ball on the preheated griddle. Using a heavy duty spatula, press beef to approximately ¼ inch thick and allow to brown for 3-4 minutes. Flip burgers, add 1 slice of cheese on each patty and cook through on the other side. Remove patties from the griddle and allow to rest for a few minutes.

Spread 1 Tbsp. softened butter on the cut sides of each of the Kneaders Justin’s Sesame Buns. Place buttered side of the buns on the griddle and lightly toast. Set aside.

Place yellow onions on griddle and cook until dark brown and caramelized. Set aside.

Assemble the burgers by placing two burger patties on each bottom bun. Place 1 Tbsp. of caramelized onions and two sandwich pickles on top of the patties. Spread 1 Tbsp. of Special Sauce on the top bun to finish the burger. Enjoy!

Yields 6 burgers

*Make Ahead: Prepare the Special Sauce and caramelized yellow onions beforehand to shorten the prep time for this recipe. Store prepared sauce and onions in the fridge until ready to use.
